Well, not to put too fine a point on it, but NASCAR doesn't have to worry about the cost of gas. All of the fuel for all of NACAR's major divisions is supplied to the competitors free of charge.

There was a point when the teams were sweating the cost of diesel for the haulers and fuel for all the private jets and budgets took a pretty big hit then.

The hardest hit from the cost of fuel is on the fans. So many of them arrive at the track in large RVs that have traveled hundreds of miles to be there. It's one of the factors that most "experts" blame for the reduced attendance this year.

You know that the economy is on the tank when NASCAR starts trying to save money. Heck it did not even slow them down when gas was $5.00 per gallon. Now with no sponsors they are slowing down.

Hi,

Sad to hear that the downturn in the economy has hit the sport too.
